There are several things everyone can do to try and stay as healthy as possible as they age. Follow our 14 tips below to help you flourish in your golden years:

  1. Maintain a healthy diet – low sodium, high fiber and low fat.
  2. Get 8 hours of sleep every night.
  3. Correspond with your loved ones as much as possible.
  4. Acknowledge and express your feelings.
  5. Take care of your eyes and teeth.
  6. Don’t smoke, and limit caffeine and alcohol.
  7. Ask for help when you need it, and don’t feel embarrassed for asking.
  8. Evaluate your mistakes, learn from them and move on.
  9. Be thoughtful and generous with your love and affection.
  10. Make regular visits to your doctor.
  11. Manage your stress.
  12. Keep your body and mind active.
  13. Look for the humor in your daily life; share it with others.
